Living in Albion Park
Albion Park is the original town of the Macquarie Valley, in the City of Shellharbour, with the Illawarra escarpment rising to the west. The land was part of an early grant to Samuel Terry, run as a cattle stud called Terry's Meadows, and his nephew John Terry Hughes gave it the name Albion Park. The estate was cut into farms in the 1860s, dairying built the town, and by 1900 it was the district's main centre.
The streets around Tongarra Road still carry that history: the public school that opened in 1893, the old bank building, the courthouse and the Centenary Hall. Beyond them, farmland gave way to housing estates from the 1980s onwards, among them Regal Heights, the Centenary Estate and the streets built on the old Mount Terry farm. Most homes are detached family houses, and the town suits people who want schools, sport and a proper main street close to home.

Tongarra Road, part of the Illawarra Highway, is the main street, and the town centre includes the Albion Park Shopping Village with its Woolworths. The Albion Park Show has run since 1888 and is billed as the "Biggest Little Show on the Coast", and locals call the area God's Country. Calderwood Village, with a second Woolworths, opened in neighbouring Calderwood in December 2025.
Schools include Albion Park Public School, Mount Terry Public School and St Paul's Catholic Primary School on Tongarra Road, with Albion Park High School for Years 7 to 12. Albion Park station, on the South Coast Line, is in Albion Park Rail. The M1 Princes Motorway now bypasses the area with an interchange at Albion Park, and Wollongong is about 18 kilometres north.

Selling
Selling in Albion Park
Albion Park's housing runs from older homes near Tongarra Road to estates built from the 1980s onwards, so the suburb median says little about any one house. Block size, the age and condition of the home, the street, and the distance to schools and the motorway all move price. We are based at Shell Cove and price homes here from recent sales in the same pocket of town.
Renting it out instead? We manage rental homes in Albion Park too, where houses in the postcode lease for around $800 a week.
