Living in Broughton
Broughton is a small rural locality on the Princes Highway between Gerringong and Berry, lying between Broughton Creek and Broughton Mill Creek. Like the creeks, it carries the name of Broughton, or Boon-ga-ree, a Dharawal man born near present-day Berry around 1798, who worked as a guide and go-between for the early colonists. It is farmland with a handful of rural homes and no village of its own.
