The suburb

Living in Kiama Heights

Kiama Heights is a semi-rural locality on the coast south of Kiama, spread across both sides of the Princes Highway. Towards the sea, streets such as Elanora Road run out to the cliffs above Loves Bay, and away from the coast the blocks get larger and the setting more rural. At its southern end is Bare Bluff, on the way to Werri Beach and Gerringong.

The residential streets were subdivided in the 1960s, in the same building boom that created Kiama Downs, so many homes date from then, with newer and rebuilt houses among them. Sea views are the defining feature for much of the suburb, and homes looking over Loves Bay have set records here. For shops and schools, residents head north into Kiama.

Living here

Cliff tops and the coast walk south

The southern section of the Kiama Coast Walk starts here and follows the cliffs from Loves Bay to Werri Lagoon, at the northern end of Werri Beach. It is an unformed track along steep cliffs, so it takes some care and good footwear, and there is parking for this section on Elanora Road. Easts Beach, sheltered and patrolled in season, is just to the north in Kiama.

Day to day, life runs through Kiama: the shops on Terralong Street, Kiama Public School and Kiama High School, and Kiama station for trains north to Wollongong and Sydney. The Princes Highway through the suburb makes the drive north or south straightforward, and Gerringong is the next town to the south.

Selling

Selling in Kiama Heights

In Kiama Heights the view does most of the work on price. A house looking over Loves Bay or along the coast can be worth far more than a similar one without that outlook, and block size, privacy and how much a 1960s home has been updated matter too. Truly comparable sales can be few, so we look at them closely, and we are based just up the coast at Shell Cove.

Renting it out instead? We manage rental homes in Kiama Heights too, where houses in the postcode lease for around $830 a week.
