Living in Coolangatta
This Coolangatta is the rural locality on the north bank of the Shoalhaven River, under Mount Coolangatta and just west of Shoalhaven Heads, not the town on Queensland's Gold Coast. It is where Alexander Berry began European settlement of the Shoalhaven in 1822, and Coolangatta Estate still has convict-built buildings from that time, restored as accommodation beside its vineyard and cellar door. The rest is farmland, river flats and rural homes.

Living here
Under Mount Coolangatta
Mount Coolangatta rises behind the locality. To the Jerrinja people it is Cullunghutti, meaning splendid view, and part of it is protected as the Cullunghutti Aboriginal Area. Shoalhaven Heads, just to the east, has the beach, the shops and the primary school, Berry is to the north, and Nowra is across the river for larger shopping and services.

Selling
Selling in Coolangatta
Coolangatta property is mostly rural: farms, river flats used for grazing and turf, and acreage homes. Much of the low land is part of the lower Shoalhaven floodplain, so flood mapping, zoning, water and access matter as much as the house. Sales are infrequent, and we appraise from comparable rural sales across the Berry and Shoalhaven Heads district.
Renting it out instead? We manage rental homes in Coolangatta too, where houses in the postcode lease for around $800 a week.
