The suburb

Living in Gerringong

Gerringong is the town south of Kiama, between the Princes Highway and the sea, with Werri Beach running north from it and Boat Harbour and Gerringong Headland at its southern end. In the nineteenth century the harbour shipped timber and dairy produce, until the railway arrived in 1893. Gerringong and Werri Beach began as separate places, but their houses have long since joined up.

The town centre is on Fern Street. Around it, older cottages sit beside newer homes, and many houses on the higher streets look out over the ocean or back towards the hills. Gerringong has a settled year-round community, and like much of this coast it also has a good number of holiday homes, which fill up over summer and the school holidays.

Gerringong station, on Belinda Street, has diesel trains north to Kiama, where they connect with electric trains to Wollongong and Sydney, and south to Berry and Bomaderry. The Princes Highway runs along the western edge of town, with exits at Fern Street and Belinda Street.

Renting out

Leasing your home in Gerringong

We lease and look after rental homes in Gerringong. Long-term tenants here usually want somewhere to settle: a family home near the school and the station, or a smaller place within walking distance of Fern Street and Werri Beach. Many owners weigh that steady income against holiday letting, which can earn more over summer but brings empty weeks, cleaning, turnover and its own rules. We can talk you through both.
