Minnamurra real estate

NSW 2533 · Kiama Municipal Council · About 4 km from our Shell Cove office

Minnamurra is a small village on the south side of the Minnamurra River, where the river meets the sea at Minnamurra Point, next to Kiama Downs. The name is usually given as meaning plenty of fish, and the river is still the reason many people choose it: fishing, the estuary, and the sandy beach and sand spit at the river mouth.

Most of the housing came with a subdivision in the 1970s, so the streets are mainly family homes from that decade onwards, many since renovated or rebuilt, with newer houses among them. It is a quiet, settled residential area, popular with people who want to be close to the river, the beach and the station.

The river mouth and the coast walk

The Kiama Coast Walk begins at the Minnamurra River, and its northern section heads south from here past Jones Beach towards Bombo and Kiama. Jones Beach, patrolled in season by the Kiama Downs club, is an easy walk away. The Princes Highway crosses the river just north of the village, which makes the drive north to Shellharbour and Wollongong straightforward.

Minnamurra Public School is in the village on Charles Avenue. Minnamurra station is a single-platform stop on the South Coast Line, on the south side of the river, with trains north to Wollongong and Sydney and south to Kiama. Day-to-day shopping is in neighbouring Kiama Downs, and Kiama's town centre is two stops down the line.

Selling

Selling in Minnamurra

Minnamurra is small, so only a few homes are on the market at any time, and buyers usually want something specific: a river or water outlook, an easy walk to the station or the school, or a block with room to renovate or rebuild. Those things, more than the suburb median, set the price of a particular home. We are based just across the river at Shell Cove and follow sales here closely.

Renting it out instead? We manage rental homes in Minnamurra too, where houses in the postcode lease for around $830 a week.
