Bellawongarah is a rural locality in the ridge country west of Berry, reached by Kangaroo Valley Road on the way to Kangaroo Valley. Part of it is cool temperate rainforest and the rest former dairy pasture, now mostly rural homes on larger holdings. It had a state school from 1874 to 1944, and a Wesleyan church built here in 1868 survives as guest accommodation.

Bellawongarah is green and quiet, with rainforest in the gullies and paddocks on the cleared land, and some holdings still keep remnant rainforest across much of their acreage. Berry is back down Kangaroo Valley Road for shops, the primary school and the train, and Kangaroo Valley's village is further along it to the west.
